Softwarepark Hagenberg presents its annual award to promote innovative software developments of exceptional quality.
The Softwarepark Hagenberg Award is awarded in two CATEGORIES:
• Main prize for companies, research institutes and individual developers or project teams
• Junior prize for pupil and students
NEW! Special prize of the International Incubator Hagenberg for all submissions, which are nominated for the first price and the offspring price by the jury, fulfilling the criteria of the Incubator program.

AWARD CONDITIONS
Participants: Participants can be individual persons, project teams, pupils, students, companies or research institutes based in Austria. The submitted software solution must have been predominantly developed in Austria and should be more or less concluded. At least the first evidence of the solution’s impact must be shown. Each software solution can only be entered in one of the categories. The special prize of the International Incubator Hagenberg will be determined from those submissions, which qualify for the final round and fulfill the criteria of the Incubator program.
Companies and research institutes from Softwarepark Hagenberg are not allowed to participate.
Prize-giving: The winner of the main prize receives a cash prize of 4,000 EUR donated by the Province of Upper Austria. The winner of the junior prize receives a cash prize of 2,000 EUR donated by the Province of Upper Austria. The ORF Upper Austria regional studio produces a short video for the prize winners. This video gives a portrait of the company and its software development. It is used as a TV broadcast and handed to the prize-winners as an additional prize. The special prize of the International Incubator Hagenberg contains a coaching-program for brainstorming, financial planning, support and accompaniment with the foundation of an enterprise with prospect of venture capital. JUDGING CRITERIA
Innovation and quality Description of the scenario and solution according to the following criteria:
a) Research and development performance: Innovation to software development (not only content but also peripheral factors such as company’s advance in technology, innovation in its sector, Austria and internationally; development in-house or in collaboration with universities or research bodies), as well as practical relevance and applicability.
b) Entrepreneurial performance: Project management, strategy, overcoming administrative or legal obstacles, new cooperation partners, risk (financial, technical, market-related)
c) Improvement of software quality: Description of methodology and quality of software development according to architecture, quality improvement measures (GUI description, documentation, structure,…)
JUDGING by the jury
The participants’ entries are evaluated by the jury by means of a selection process. The 5 best participants from each category are invited by the jury to make a presentation followed by questions. The presentation and questioning is mainly comprised of how the innovation is implemented and what strategy is used to achieve increased software development quality.
